For current events that are stressful, such as terrorist attacks or pandemics like coronavirus, we should not be afraid.  The Scriptures given in the main Current Events page reflect that.  This does not mean that we should not take reasonable precautions.  If you live in or are traveling to a dangerous area, certainly you should be aware.  If there is a pandemic; and you are in a high-risk group for it, certainly you should take reasonable actions to avoid contracting this.  However, we need act differently from many unbelievers.  Should we be terrified about flying simply due to a terrorist attack committed on an airliner?  Should we be afraid to step outside during a pandemic such as the coronavirus?  After all, remember:

And this is the record, that God hath given to us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. He that hath the Son hath life; and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life. These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God. (1 John 5:11-13)

As for stories such as Colton Burpo's supposed visit to heaven, you can choose whether or not to believe them.  However, as I mentioned in the main page, these stories should not be foundational to your faith.  It stories like these remain on the periphery of your faith, then it will not shake your faith should somebody recant their story.
